Welcome to my website. I hold the August Röhss Chair in Political Science at the University of Gothenburg. I specialize in comparative politics and political economy.
I am currently the principal investigator in the research project Public Services in Comparative and Historical Perspective.
My most recent book is Inward Conquest: The Political Origins of Modern Public Services (Cambridge University Press, with Ben Ansell).
My most recent article is "Railroads and Reform: How Trains Strengthened the Nation State" (British Journal of Political Science, with Alexandra Cermeño and Kerstin Enflo).
